Instructions for Authors

1. Original manuscripts should be submitted to the Associate Editor Dr. Tal Shafir via email talshafir1@univ.haifa.ac.il

2. Manuscript preparation:

    a) Length: manuscripts should not exceed 5,000 words (qualitative studies are limited to 9,000 words).

    b) Formatting: Text should have 1.5 line spacing and have a 12-pt type using David font with wide margins and numbered pages.

    c) The title page should indicate the title of the manuscript, the authors' names in Hebrew and English ordered by degree of contribution, authors' affiliations, full contact details (address, phone, email) for each author, and designated address for correspondence. Please provide 5 keywords. Hebrew language manuscripts should include keywords in Hebrew and English.

    d) All manuscripts should include an abstract of no more than 200 words in English (and in Hebrew if relevant).

    e) Text should be fluent and clearly written: Hebrew manuscripts should follow the guidelines of the Hebrew Language Academy; English language manuscripts should follow APA style guide (6th edition).

    f) A detailed reference list, prepared according to the APA guidelines, should include only references mentioned in the text. For in-text citations, use author-date (Harvard referencing) method; references in Hebrew should be listed separately, from right to left, following APA guidelines. For additional guidance, consult the following websites:

http://www.apastyle.org/

http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/

Examples demonstrating referencing of various types of text are provided at the end of this document.

    g) Tables and figures: submit each table on a separate page. In the body of the text, provide a brief summary according to APA guidelines, and note the preferred placement of each table. Please do not embed figures in the paper file - figures must be saved separately to the text in one of the following formats: Tiff or Jpg. All figures must be numbered in the order in which they appear in the paper (e.g. figure 1, figure 2 etc.). Figure captions must be saved separately, as part of the file containing the complete text of the paper, and numbered accordingly.

3. Preparation for submission: send manuscript in two versions:

    a) Include only title and running head (intended for peer review)

    b) Include full title page (as described in section 2c above).

Following the peer review process, authors will be asked to provide answers to reviewers' questions and comments. Prior to publication, authors will be asked to approve a final version of the manuscript.

Please note:

  • The peer review process is conducted anonymously.
  • Authors must attest that the manuscript is being submitted only to the Academic Journal of Creative Arts Therapies and that it will not be submitted to another ISRAELI journal while under consideration.
  • Manuscripts accepted for publication may not be copied, whole or in part, without explicit permission from the publisher.

About

The Academic Journal of Creative Arts Therapies (AJCAT) aims to publish original articles in Hebrew and English that expand and contribute towards the Creative Arts Therapies.

Types of Articles

The following types of articles are considered for publication: quantitative and qualitative research articles, arts-based studies, theoretical studies, theory‑based case studies, research literature reviews, and essays presenting a historical, philosophical or visionary perspective.

The journal also features reviews and critiques of recently published books in the field, abstracts from noteworthy articles published in other parts of the world, reports on dissertations recently completed in Israeli establishments of higher education, and information on upcoming conferences and events in Israel and abroad that are relevant to the field of creative arts therapies.

Every article is subject to a peer review by external and qualified experts. Authors are required to inform the editor of the AJCAT if the article has been published or is pending publication in a non-Israeli journal, and as such, its republication in the AJCAT may be considered.

Ideas and opinions expressed in the publications of this journal are solely those of their authors and do not reflect or represent the editors' views or approach.
